Multimodal Metaphor Construction and Cognitive Analysis in Educational Cartoons

Since Lakoff and Johnson proposed their far-reaching theory of conceptual metaphor, people's interpretation metaphor has changed from a rhetorical approach to way thinking. In recent years, multimodal metaphors have gradually received attention scholars at home abroad, been applied different forms media research such as advertisements, comics, gestures, films, thus greatly contributing the advancement theory. Multimodal provide new perspective for construction understanding metaphorical meaning. This study draws on 100 educational cartoons published by China News Cartoon Network 2020-2021. Firstly, in are classified into four categories according Forceville's cognitive-linguistic theoretical framework, integration network is integration. analyses both social cognitive perspectives explores basis comic formal meaningful perspectives.
